Yasmina Choueiri
Portfolio Leadership, Water Expert, and Climate Impact in Brussels
I lead innovation portfolios and climate impact programs at the intersection of water governance, climate action and systems change, with more than 15 years across research, consulting and program leadership.
My background spans academic and professional environmental planning and impact assessment, applying strategic thinking to design holistic solutions for the environmental performance of urban areas and communities. This has taken shape across multidisciplinary, multicultural projects including Lebanon's Water Security Pilot Project, Lebanon's Informal Infrastructure, Byblos 100 Resilient City.
My PhD assessed Lebanon's informal water systems across three dimensions: environmental, through an energy-water nexus and carbon accounting; socio-economic, through a comparative water affordability and disparities analysis of two communities; and governance, through a stakeholder analysis of informal water tankers.
At Climate KIC, I now hold two roles within the Entrepreneurship Department. As Operation Lead, I ensure the strategic alignment and operational efficiency across the department by leading planning and resourcing, safeguarding financial sustainability, and fostering team wellbeing and process improvements. As Climate Impact Lead, I head a 6-person team behind the department's first commercial product: 3 environmental assessment methodologies (Mitigation Potential, Adaptation & Resilience Co-Benefits, and Circularity Potential of Startups) built using a component-based approach for efficient design and delivery, and applied to nearly 500 startups across Latin America, Africa, Southeast Asia and Europe, in partnership with organisations spanning foundations and corporates.
