Yasmin Arnaout

Toronto, Ontario

I am a Journalism student at Ryerson University. Currently, I am attempting to find an efficient way to get up at five on weekday mornings for my long commute from Milton to Toronto.

I chose journalism to pursue my passions. Not only do I get to write for the rest of my life - which to me is the best imaginable thing - but I am able to incorporate my interests of being involved and educated on all events occurring around the world and locally.

I grew up in a multicultural environment. While I was born in Dubai and raised in Canada from the age of four, my parents are from opposite sides of the world. My mother is from the Philippines and my father is from Lebanon. Being surrounded with so many different cultures and mindsets has almost forced me to be aware of not only my surroundings, but also events in far away places.

My passions do not end at writing and following the news. While writing has always been the first activity I had always known I loved, over the years I have developed an interest in art and fashion. Eventually, I hope to snag a job working for a fashion magazine.
