Yasmine Campbell, née Brito-Morales, is an entertainment industry veteran, a screenwriter and the founder of Inner Voices, which is a traveling career fair comprised of entertainment industry professionals who go to inner-city high schools to educate teens on career prospects within the esteemed industry.
She identifies as Afro-Caribbean and is active in bringing awareness of social stigmas involving colorism. She is an active advocate for the LGBTQIA community, climate change, family equality and children with learning differences. Yasmine does outreach with her trans son. She is very heavily involved in social justice reform and sits on committees writing policies that would see the equitable and just treatment of families from all socio-economic backgrounds.
During the Biden/Harris campaign Yasmine was part of the education committee. She has mentored for the prestigious American Film Institute Conservatory, BE Conference hosted by The Wrap, the National Association of Latino Independent Producers (NALIP). Yasmine has moderated for Produced By Conferences hosted by the Producer's Guild and co-spearheads incubators for Women In Film. She also supports National Hispanic Media Coalition (NHMC) and their efforts on bringing equality within the ranks of the entertainment industry.
An NYU graduate school alum, Yasmine’s interest in writing high-concept is informed by her upbringing and exposure to mystical elements. Her grandfather was a Taino Shaman and taught her the ways of natural healing. On the other hand, her father was a drug lord and the head of a notorious gang in New York City. Her early exposure to mysticism and the hardened street culture informs her writing and colors her worlds with radical, never-seen characters and wild plots. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Comparative Literature from Cedar Crest College in Allentown, PA. It is a private, all women’s college where she met the late, poet and activist, Maya Angelou and Nobel Laurate, holocaust survivor, Eli Wiesel.
On her writing desk, you will find books of physics, world languages, mythology and action figures including G.I. Joes, Marvel/D.C., Wrestling figurines (Yasmine was the only female wrestler in high school), as well as Doctor Who toys. Mixed martial arts, playing drums and drawing are favorite pass times.
