Adebowale Yekini
Teacher, Editor, and Volunteer in Lagos
I am an English Language educator with a strong focus on clear learning outcomes, inquiry-based pedagogy and measurable student growth. I graduated from Obafemi Awolowo University and currently teach at Opebi Senior Grammar School Lagos State.
I am an alumnus of Teach For Nigeria and the SAIL Teachers’ Fellowship. During my fellowship year, I collaborated on a digital literacy project across Mushin, Ikeja and Oshodi, supporting 238 students who gained essential digital competencies through structured training sessions.
My teaching approach is rooted in Inquiry-Based Learning (IBL), where students explore, question, test ideas and reflect. I strengthen communication skills through broadcasting activities such as interviews, news reading, role-play and speech presentations. These practices have led to improved speaking clarity, confidence and group collaboration among students.
I earned the Education District VI Best Teacher Award in 2023 and 2025, recognitions that highlight my consistency, impact and dedication to learner success—especially in WASSCE preparation.
I continue to support teaching practices that develop problem-solving skills, collaboration and independent thinking while improving classroom experiences across Lagos State.
