Web and social media are providing a record of human activity of all sorts, and it is the job of data scientists to bridge the gap between zeros and ones and the sociologists, political scientists, and everyday interested user. Large-scale data analysis, opinion detection, information retrieval, and the assessment of its usefulness are at the core of my research.
