Yew Tzen Chooi

I’m Yew Tzen, a Certified Anti-Money Laundering and Counter Terrorist Compliance Officer, Chartered Management Accountant and Chartered Accountant.I'm responsible for the successful Malaysia Digital status application and Export Grant from Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation for my employer in 2024 and 2025, and I've achieved the same success results for my three previous employers. I'm experienced and responsible for successful applications for licensed activities like Labuan Money Broking, Labuan Credit Token and Labuan Payment Operator from Labuan Financial Services Authority in 2020 and 2021.

I'm a Fellow of Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, an Associate Member of Asian Institute of Chartered Bankers and a member of Malaysian Institute of Accountants. I graduated Master of Business Administration (Distinction) from Open University Malaysia and pursuing my Doctor in Philosophy in International Business from Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS). I have graduated programs from University Malaya, International Institute for Journalism and Konrad Adenauer Asian Center for Journalism at the Ateneo de Manila University. I have put my experience and expertise in finance, journalism and technology to good use in the past four decades.

I co-authored “Urban farming: the challenges of hydroponic and vertical farming in Malaysia” published in Cogent Food and Agriculture Journal (Volume 11, 2025 - Issue 1), and “The Critical Digital Transformation of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Labuan, Malaysia”. In 2024, I was appointed as a member of UMS Board of Studies at Labuan Faculty of International Finance (LFIF) for its graduate program and in 2026, I was appointed as an External Adviser (Industry) for UMS LFIF Post-Graduate program.

I've served Persekutuan Pengakap Malaysia and commissioned in various roles from National HQ Commissioner, to National Commissioner for Program, Management and Governance, and currently the Deputy Chief State Scout Commissioner for Pengakap Negeri Sembilanand member of Board of Management, Gilwell Scout's Nature Park Sandakan.

I'm a King's Scout, a 3-bead Assistant Leader Trainer, a member of Association of Top-Achiever Scouts (ATAS) and graduated Outward Bound School in 1999. I'm the first Malaysian to served in two consecutive World Scout Jamborees as the Head of Secretariat/ Malaysian Contingent Management Team at the 23rd World Scout Jamboree 2015 in Japan and 24th World Scout Jamboree 2019 in USA. In 2023, I had the honour and privilege to be the first Malaysian to serve the global Jamboree Management Team and operate the Camp Chief's Office at the 25th World Scout Jamboree 2023 in Korea.I am a mentor for the Duke of Edinburgh International Award and certified assessor for the King's Scouts Award and Baden-Powell Award.
