Yeya’s passion for the entertainment industry was ignited at age 9. Her adult cousin Sharon was performing in Disney’s “The Lion King” on Broadway, as Nala. As the music began, and young Yeya watched the puppeteered life-size animals make their way down the aisles, she suddenly knew where she belonged. A burning passion ensued. Shortly after, she was enrolled in 2 theatre classes, and a SPARC summer camp back home in Virginia. She performed in theatre all four years of high school, eventually being cast as the leading lady in Footloose in 2014. Yeya moved to Colorado and learned multiple instruments, including guitar, ukulele, and harp. Yeya is also the artist behind the blooming new pop single, Amongst Wolves. This musical debut shares how Yeya moved to LA with her son, five hundred dollars in 2017, and aimed everything she had at her music, never to look back. Yeya has since then performed at the Staples Center for 13,000 people at the WNBA Finals, been featured in multiple Tyga music videos, and opened for chart-topping band, 5 Seconds of Summer.

“I hadn’t even started writing original music at the time I did the Staples Center, so I did a cover. It was a huge sign to me that I was really meant to be in LA doing music.”

Through an internship in 2018, she connected with Spotify, confirming her hopes and propelling her into a greater realization of her purpose. Yeya spent 6 months with sponsored studio time in the Secret Genius Studios recording her first EP Monarch. With the help of Spotify, and Swedish producer, Jonas Quant, Yeya is beginning to take the music industry by storm. Yeya’s musical debut leaves us feeling inspired and ready to take on the world.
