Yi-chun Liu (º1985, Taichung, TW) graduated in 2007 from Taipei National University of the Arts. She grew up with Chinese-opera and Kung-fu training since her age 5, and then she met Ballet, contemporary dance and the intellectual mind of improvisation in the art schools. Further she followed intense training in Tai-Chi Dao-In and Martial Arts while she danced with Cloud Gate Dance Theater of Taiwan. It was mind opening when Countertechnique came in practice, helping Yi-chun process a versatile career.
She joined Peeping Tom (BE) since 2013 for the family trilogy “Vader”, “Moeder” and “Kind”. Before that she had danced with Anouk van Dijk (NL), Shang-chi Sun (DE/TW), Ann Van den Broek (BE), Scapino Ballet Rotterdam (NL), Paul Selwyn Norton (NL/AU) and Balletto Teatro di Torino (IT), Cloud Gate Dance Theater 1 (TW). She also took a part in the awarded Peeping Tom co-production “The lost room”(2015) and “The hidden floor”(2017) by Franck Chartier for Nederlands Dans Theater 1 as artistic assistant.
Yi-chun’s solo piece O premiered in Rotterdam in 2012; it has since evolved into a duet, performed in Amsterdam and Den Hague. She is working on her alphabetical series in discussion to the concept “Act of Performance”.
Yi-chun offers workshops along side Peeping Tom touring program. She loves working with multi-disciplinary group, not limit to dancers and only. At the same time she is a certificate Countertechnique teacher since 2012. She has been invited intercontinentally in different cities for teaching.
