JET

Amherst, Massachusetts, United States

Hello there! :) I'm glad you're taking your time to read this, you are awesome!
First of all, my name is Wong Yi-Jet. Last name followed by first name, it works this way for Asian countries but please call me Jet. It's short and simple. I'm from Malaysia, I'm not sure whether do you know where it is but we are in between Thailand and Singapore, we also have two other states that is across the South China Sea. I am a martial arts instructor and I can play the trumpet :D
I travelled halfway across the world just to be in America, just a quick shoutout to my parents who believe and supported me till I got here. I am a student pursuing a BBA majoring in Marketing here in the Isenberg School of Management in UMass Amherst. People ask me why Marketing? Why not the standard Asian stereotype majors Engineering, Lawyer, Accountant or Doctor? I ask them one question in return, WHY NOT MARKETING?

My interest was not always in the business field, I was into the Mass Media such as Public Relations. I took a class of anthropology and sociology, I found it really interesting to see what makes us "tick". I live in a diverse country where there are 3 main races which have equal rights. I wanted to know what attracts and what does not, I believe that marketing is my gold ticket. It gives me a pathway into the business world and seeing how people change, what people likes and how do we get their attention, this is really exciting. On a side note, I love physics too! I am interested in how humans evolve and behave and I'm looking forward to see where this will lead me to as I am open to anything. My personal motto is this, "do unto others as you would like others to do unto you". I believe that everyone in this world likes to be treated nicely and it does not take a huge amount of effort to do so rather it takes even more effort to not be nice. I do not believe in giving up, if you want something then you have to go and get it. If you fail, you know it's going to be ten times harder or a hundred times harder but if you did not go you would have all these what if's. Go and fail, that's alright. If you don't go and think what if, that's something you should stop doing. Never give up in your dreams, that's the best thing to keep you moving forward.I love meeting new people, even the person reading this! Talk to me if we have not talked because I want to get to know you.
