Yiying is two characters in Chinese: "Yi" = "Happy," and "Ying" = "Creative."

Yiying Lu is an award-winning designer with more than 10 years of experience in the creative realm. Her projects have been featured in many publications, including The New York Times, Forbes, NBC News, TIME, Wired Magazine, The Verge, TechCrunch, Mashable, Engadget, The Huffington Post, and so on.

Yiying was born and raised in Shanghai, China. She studied at the University of Technology in Sydney, Australia, and at Central Saint Martins in London, UK. Now based in San Francisco, US, Yiying leads creative direction at 500 Startups, the world's most active venture capital firm and startup accelerator.

She has worked as a creative advisor and designer for Disney, Microsoft, SXSW, Twitter, PepsiCo, Sony, Scholastic, Maybelline, Expedia, Saatchi & Saatchi, JWT, and so on.

Her work has been exhibited in galleries and museums globally. Notable projects include the official Dumpling Emoji, the Twitter Fail Whale, Conan O'Brien's Pale Whale, and the SXSW Interactive Big Bag Art.

Yiying was named a "Top 10 Emerging Leader in Innovation" in the Microsoft Next 100 series, published by The Australian. She is also the recipient of a Shorty Award, The One Show award, and "Best of China" award from the Cannes Advertising Festival.

Her passion is to help companies, organizations, and individuals find the "FUN" in the "FUNctional."
