Yolanda Banda

Greetings, my name is Yolanda Banda. I am a 3rd year Education student at UJ majoring in Physical Sciences and Life Science. I am tutor for 1st year Life Sciences at UJ and Grade 12 Life Sciences at Ntuthuko Sunday School. I am a down to earth person who is judged by most to be a quiet person at first glance but I’m really loud and fun when around. I believe in hard work, honesty, consistency and having fun while doing what you love because without either one I believe life can be very tricky and it becomes hard to master the art of living. I chose to be a teacher because there is no greater feeling on Earth than to nurture the potential that is within a person such that they themselves realise the greatness and the power that lies within them. Growing up in a family that had a “beyond the word strict” father and a soft spoken mother, I got a taste of both worlds and I can confidently say that being a teacher requires a balance of both worlds and an extra component of laughter because that will build a warm and healthy environmental classroom as it did build a warm home where I was brought up. Well, I love food mainly because we all love eating (that’s human nature) but I am one of the few people that don’t add kilos after indulging in sugar and all sorts of meals. I enjoy reading books such that at times I just read anything that I come across. I am also physically active as I am a good netball player. It goes without doubt to say that I achieve anything that I put my mind on and hard work with no play makes Yols a dull lady.
