Yoshiyuki Abe

阿部譲之 十四代目伝統工芸家でデザイナーでもある父の元に生まれ、東京とアメリカで木の家具を学ぶ。工芸家ジェイムス・クレノフに師事。NYの美大プラットで工業デザインを専攻し、アカデミー賞を受賞した石岡瑛子の助手を務めた。帰国後はフリーランス、新生銀行、ネット花店の立ち上げなどを経て、ソニー・ブルガリ・香港上海銀行などのデザインプロジェクトや文筆分野で活動。現在は、阿部書店株式会社代表。2010年グッドデザイン賞受賞。

Yoshi Abe worked on design projects for SONY, HSBC, BVLGARI and banks in Japan. He is the president of Abe Shoten Inc. based in Tokyo, a winner of the prestigious Good Design Award and writes for Japanese publications. Born to the family of 14th generation traditional Japanese furniture maker, he originally studied woodworking in Tokyo and California, and then industrial design at Pratt Institute in New York City. Yoshi worked as an assistant designer to Eiko Ishioka, the Oscar-winning art director.
