Dick Vander Woude

Hi. My wife Cynthia and I live in Madison, WI where we are among the active retired. Prior to meeting Cynthia (through social media) I was active in politics and public relations. Retirement is a new beginning, one of many. Mostly I enjoy friends old and new. My current passion is writing memoir. It started five years ago with a few vignettes drafted for my children, then it began to grow on its own, fertilized by a writing group and a senior’s memoir class.
My reading interests are varied and include philosophy, espionage, theology, historical fiction, history, and memoir. When not witting a book I’m reading one. Beyond these there is digital photography, golf, coffee, family and a few good deeds — like volunteering for our president and delivering meals on wheels.
Pre-retirement I taught school, organized teacher unions, managed political campaigns, lobbied for teachers and kids and managed a ‘Great Schools’ public relations strategy from creation to retirement. Now I’m wondering where ‘about.me’ will lead.
