Younes Bachir

Younes Bachir (Belgium) is an Artistic Director, Mentor and Actor. He has twenty five years of international experience in performing arts, experimenting

different artistic languages ( theatre, chamber opera, events, video art and cinema) Younes studied at the Superior Theatre Conservatory in Brussels. In 1994 he obtained the ‘Premier Prix in Dramatic Art’ and completed his studies with workshops under Carlo Bozzo in Comedia del Arte (Piccolo Teatro di Milano) and UltímaVez Dance Company (Belgium).

In 1995 he moved to Barcelona and joined the company La Fura dels Baus (1995-2009) where until 2002 he participated in the company as a performer.

In 2003 he took a new direction within the Company and worked collaboratively as director of actors with Fura members on different projects .During these six years he worked closely with internationally acclaimed Catalan opera director Carlus Padrissa on the ship-theatre Naumon as Co-Director/Author and director of actors on various creations. Work outside La Fura during this time he worked with Calixto Bieito, Joan Baixas and Ahmed Ghazali.

Since 2009, Younes directed various creations in Australia and Europe: Andante Workshop Project (2009), Confined Chamber Opera (Alice Springs, 2011),

OjO (Sydney, 2011) BCN Re.Set with Alex Ollé (2014), Man's Wall (Kuweit, 2014), KabooM (Melbourne, 2015), Mentoring (FAIR-AR Marseille, 2017), Kaboom (Penang Festival 2018), Babel (Brisbane, 2018), Reasons (Videoclip, 2018).All That We ARE 3D Show with Strings Attached at the Real Festival Sydney (2019). Jury at Sitges Film Festival 2020In the field of cinema Younes has acted in films that have received awards by theSpanish Film Academy.
