Melanie Young
Melanie Young, proprietress of The Akasha House on Vancouver Island. BC. Canada, invites you into a 'Big Conversation'.
This topic is motivated by my eagerness to bring light to the obvious and the subtle invalidating influences within our culture, society and community, when we describe ‘that which is woman’.
I want to use our collective curiosities to consider how our personal autonomy is affected by external and often distorting forces.
I want to explore with you examples from history, politics, society, culture and healthcare that demonstrate how these larger forces combine, resulting in the undermining of our individual autonomy .
I promise to share conversations, stories, films, exercises and humour to explore the effect of our media and advertising representation..
I will help you to find a conscious, compassionate and mindful path towards the now common ground where growing communities of women are standing peacefully, skillfully, spiritually and firmly to say ‘enough’.
I know that by the end of our time together you will have shared and received ideas and strategies for reinterpreting our world in ways that offer empowerment.
I know that these ideas are already in your minds and that this time spent together will allow you to find the way in regular conversation at home or at work to redirect and honour your autonomy in a compassionate way that feels safe, calming, empowering and honest.
You’ll join me in my workshops, seminars, lectures and talks because you already know what I mean and beacuse you are open and curious to understand more. You’ll come because you want to ‘honour that which is woman’ in a way that is authentic and meaningful to you and you’ll come because it is simply time to say ‘enough’.
