Saint Francis of Assisi Houston

Our Church of Saint Francis of Assisi was established back in 1950, by Bishop Wendelin J. Nold, and the original parishioners were of Czech ad other European origins. Gradually over the years African Americans moved into the area after the whites departure. Current church dates from 1965, and it was designed with Saint Francis of Assisi in mind. It is hard notice it at first but the church was designed to resemble a cowl, the pointed hood worn by monks. Inspired by our faith in Jesus Christ, and rooted in the charism of St. Francis of Assisi, we actively welcome all people. We worship God through prayerful and inspiring liturgies, the celebration of the sacraments, and the devotional life of the Church. We witness to our faith by ministering to everyone, especially those who are poor, alienated or oppressed.

By establishing a website we wanted to reach to younger population as well, and through email you can easily contact us with any question that you might have. On our website you can find more information about our humble Parish and how to actively join the Mass, there is also a collection of a few popular prayers so you don't have to search for a prayer book when you want to pray. Our web site includes weekly messages written by our faithful community for the community. There you can find stories full of good wishes and spirit, you might even find review of honest local businesses that helped our small Parish in any way. Also when browsing our website don't miss our mass and meeting schedule, we are going to update it regularly informing the community of upcoming meetings and events, as well as updating our photo gallery with new photos after the event or celebration is over.
