Youssef Al Omani
Youssef Al Omani is a Kuwaiti singer. Since childhood Youssef’s hobby was always to sing and make music, this eventually turned into a profession and today he is one of the most successful and recognisable artists in the Gulf region. Since releasing his first album in 2002 titled, “Khabirna “(tell us) he has greatly impressed the masses in his home country Kuwait and around the Gulf. Since wanting to make singing a profession, Youssef starting composing songs for some of the biggest names in the Gulf such as “Saoud Jaber” and “Riyad Ahmed”. He learnt music of all kinds especially the Khaleeji (Gulf) styles as well as Iraqi, English, and Spanish music. In 1994 Yousef participated in the music competition, “Faneen al hawa “(love of artists) for the company music box in Kuwait. Youssef won and came first place and since then has been singing live at large parties and concerts, spreading his name across the Gulf region and gaining much fame. In 2002 Youssef won an award for his song, “ Inta hobbi” (you are my love), which won first place, as well as winning an award in the UAE for best singer in the Oud category and ability to play instruments within his music. Youssef released his second album titled, “Ghali Alayi “(Dearest to me). The album achieved great success and the main song of the album won second place in the youth category in France. Many of his songs in the album are a mix of Arabic and English, enabling Yousef to reach out to a wider audience. His latest album, “Al Omani 2010 “ and “Jalsat” culminates Youssef’s success and brings in his work from previous albums and some of the biggest hits.
