Yusuf Mubarak Akinkunmi

Animal scientist, Pasture agronomists, and Farmer in Lagos, Nigeria

Hire me

I am Mubarak, an animal scientist with a deep passion for transforming livestock production in West Africa through the power of research-backed practice.

My academic journey has been shaped by a fascination with the parts of livestock science that most people overlook feed systems, forage quality, silage fermentation, and ruminant nutrition. These are not the flashiest topics in agriculture, but they are quietly responsible for whether a farm thrives or collapses. That conviction drives everything I do.

My research spans tropical forage science, silage fermentation, ruminant nutrition, and sustainable feed formulation with hands-on work on Brachiaria ruziziensis, poultry manure utilisation, fiber and proximate composition of ensiled forages, and mineral profiling of feed resources. I work at the intersection of laboratory science and farm-level reality, because I believe the gap between research institutions and the everyday farmer is one of the most expensive problems in Nigerian agriculture.

Beyond the lab, I am building something bigger a vision for a modern, research-driven livestock farm in Southwest Nigeria where science, not tradition alone, dictates every management decision. A farm that also serves as a living demonstration centre for smallholder farmers who deserve access to knowledge that actually works.

If you are working in animal science, agribusiness, sustainable agriculture, or livestock development in Africa, I would love to connect.
