Babatunde Yusuf Olalekan is currently a fourth year pharmacy student at the Prestigious University of Ilorin, Nigeria. He is a young researcher having interest in global health, mental health, one health, antimicrobial resistance, using artificial intelligence to achieve universal health coverage and the use of natural remedies As a student leader, he has served as the Assistant General Secretary for PANS National in 2018, an honorable of the Pharmacy Students Representative Council (PSRC), Unilorin in 2019 where he won an Award of the most Active Honorable. Currently, he is serving as the general secretary of PANS, Unilorin chapter and as the Vice President of the Unilorin Students’ One Health Initiative (UNILOSOHI). Yusuf is passionate about ensuring every Nigerian have access to quality and accessible healthcare without incurring catastrophic expenditure. He volunteers for certain platforms like the PANS Public health team, Unilorin Drug free club and he is also one of the first members of the Healthy African Platform. Yusuf is a young entrepreneur that advocates for the 17 UN SDGs, he represented the University of Ilorin at the Hult Prize regionals 2020 in Abuja where his team devised a technology to prevent food wastage. He was one of the Top 5 finalists at the Business Proposal Essay competition organized by the technical entrepreneurship center, Unilorin. He is an author of various published articles and poems. He has represented PANS Unilorin at the last three consecutive PANS National Convention at the Obafemi Awolowo University (Ile-Ife), Olabisi Onabanjo University (Sagamu) and the Usman danfodiyo University (Sokoto) where he participated in various competitions and was the 1st runner up at the IPSF- Patient Counselling event (UDUS, 2019) and also his team was also one of the top 5 finalists at the first PANS Health Hackathon in OOU (2018). He was awarded as the most popular and the most versatile student in PANS Unilorin chapter, 2018 and also the most influential and again the most popular student in PANS Unilorin chapter, 2019. Also, in June (2019), Yusuf was presented a certificate of appreciation by the Global health focus (GHF) in recognition of his contribution in the focus group discussion to assess pharmacy students’ perspectives of the FIP Nanjing statements. Babatunde Yusuf Olalekan was named as the 5th pharmacy student of the year in the whole of Nigeria by the Pharmaceutical Association of Nigerian Students (PANS).
