Yvonne Miller

Attorney, Writer, and Activist in Washington, DC

Hello! I believe in navigating life with boundless versatility—rejecting boxes, labels, and limitations. No one defines me; I defy expectations. With a blend of legal expertise, strategic vision, and creative flair, I transcend conventional roles. Lawyer, activist, writer, mentor—I embrace each part of who I am and eagerly anticipate what lies ahead!

My journey began in political organizing, leading to roles in advocacy and legal practice. I've championed civil rights, negotiated complex deals, and mentored young people—all fueled by an insatiable curiosity and a passion for service instilled in me at a young age. I had the privilege of serving as a Senior Advance Associate for Vice President Kamala Harris within the Biden Administration and on the Harris-Walz campaign, ensuring seamless public engagements that strengthened her connection with diverse communities.

Before returning to full-time politics, I served as transitional Chief of Staff for The See Forever Foundation, overseeing strategic initiatives within the Maya Angelou Schools network. Leading a 25-person team, I spearheaded workplace culture improvements rooted in operational excellence as the Interim Chief Administrative Officer.

I earned my Juris Doctor from Western Michigan University Law School and specialize in employment and labor law. I am a Certified Arbitrator with the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) and licensed to practice law in the District of Columbia, Maryland, the Federal District Court of Maryland, and the Supreme Court.

Earlier in my career, I worked on former President Barack Obama’s 2008 campaign. I served in field operations at the NAACP National Headquarters, and interned in the White House Office of Public Engagement during the first Obama-Biden administration, contributing to the development of the Patient Protection & Affordable Care Act of 2010. Proudly hailing from South Carolina, I graduated from the University of South Carolina, where I made history as the first Black female Student Government Vice President and represented Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, as Vice President of the Sorority Council.

In 2022, I was honored as one of 20 Washington, D.C., Leaders of Color in the program’s Inaugural Class; the fellowship is designed to equip local leaders with the tools to effect positive change.

In my spare time, I enjoy podcasts, traveling, and mentoring high school students through the Grip Tape Youth Driven Learning Challenge. Let's connect!
