I spent most of my life as a Georgia Bulldog fan. Even though I had no connection to the university during my childhood, I grew up in Savannah, so I gained an appreciation for the school by watching their games on TV and occasionally attending these events in person.

As I got older, I began to think about where I wanted to go to college. My plan was to attend UGA unless I was accepted into Vanderbilt. I loved everything about the school and felt like it was a perfect fit for me. However, not getting into Vanderbilt made me reconsider. Vanderbilt is an extremely competitive school academically, but another factor that intrigued me about the school was being in a big city far away from home. I visited SMU around this time and was immediately blown away by the campus and the facilities here. I was even more excited by the possibility of living in Dallas. I contemplated this decision for nearly a month and eventually decided to go to SMU.

I spent a year there, but it never felt like I was in the right place. I was at a smaller school and was too far away to spend time with anyone I had been friends with before. I appreciate the time I spent there, but eventually, I submitted another application to UGA and was accepted. Since the first time I came to Athens, everything about my college experience has felt different, and I think it was the best decision I could have made.
