Supervising Legislative Officer in Philippines
Zheanne Aeson M. Dantis, fondly known as Zi, is a dedicatedpolicy advocateandcommunications strategist with over a decade of experience crafting and championing legislation that uplifts women, protects vulnerable groups, and fosters a more sustainable future.
Graduating cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of the Philippines Manila in 2012, Zi stepped into public service with a steadfast commitment to creating a more inclusive and compassionate society. She began her journey in the office of Senator Pia S. Cayetano as a technical staff, supporting key committees on Education, Arts and Culture, Environment and Natural Resources, and Women, Children, Family Relations, and Gender Equality. She played a pivotal role as a researcher on the landmark Reproductive Health bill, a cause close to her heart.
Zi’s contributions have helped shape significant laws, including the Responsible Parenthood and Reproductive Health Act,the Expanded Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act,the Open Distance Learning Act,and the Children’s Emergency Relief and Protection Act, among many others.
In 2021, she stepped into the role of Deputy Chief Legislative Officer, further advancing measures to safeguard and empower the most vulnerable, such as the Inclusive Education for Learners with Disabilities Act, Alternative Child Care and Domestic Adoption Act, Foundling Recognition and Protection Act, and crucial legislation against online sexual abuse and exploitation of children.
Today, Zi leads the legislative team handling the budget of higher education agencies (previously including cultural agencies) under the Senate Finance Subcommittee, while also heading the team assigned to the Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations, and Gender Equality. She continues to lend her gentle yet determined voice as the Communications Head of the office, bridging policy and public understanding.
At her core, Zi believes advocacy is an act of love — a principle she brings to life through her writing on her personal blog, Princesa Eiya, and her heartfelt fundraising initiative Project 30 for 30, which supports children without parental care.
When she is not working on policies or meeting with advocates, you will likely find Zi with a book and a cup of coffee in hand, listening to her favorite podcasts or rewatching a beloved period drama. A proud Swiftie, she believes in the quiet power of storytelling and the magic of small, intentional moments.
