Zain Haider Awan
Zain is a multi-award winning campaign strategist and youth in development specialist. Zain was the a first British Pakistani trustee of BYC, having previously served in the UK Youth Parliament and UK Young Ambassadors program. Whilst on the board Zain helped develop the Equality 4 u framework, represent UK Youth to the European Youth Forum and help develop the ILMPossible campaign in Pakistan. Whilst studying for his degree in Development Studies and Middle Eastern Studies at SOAS, Zain founded Dervish Creative a boutique creative agency specialising in public sector campaigning and storytelling. Zain's expertise have been sought out to work on development projects from Iraq, Kenya, Mauritius and other parts of South Asia for a whole host of partners including the Commonwealth Secretariat and the British Council.
Zain was an Artist in Residence for Metal where his work centres around the first wave of Muslim migrants to Peterborough - these being men predominantly from the Azad Kashmir region of Pakistan. Having worked in International Development at the intersection with tech, Zain is pursuing his academic interests in tech, security and development.
