Zar Ali Khan Afridi was born in an Afridi tribe of ethnic Pashtun in Jana Kor FR Peshawar FATA and graduated in Geology and gender and women studies. He is a human rights activist and has been working in Society for Rights and Development a local FATA based NGO as its President. He formed Tribal NGOs Consortium in FATA in 2010 and he was declared as its founding Chairman. He also launched FATA Commission of Human Rights and he was elected as its founding Chairperson. He also writes on prevailing situations in region particularly on FATA, Afghanistan and Pashtun region.
