With over three decades of dedicated experience, Zashnain is a seasoned consultant and community leader, committed to driving social change and uplifting marginalized communities. His journey began at the Malaysian Sociological Research Institute, where he laid the groundwork for his passion for social issues, coordinating aid relief during the Bosnian genocide in the 90s and for Palestinian refugees in Lebanon.

Zashnain's fervent passion led him to Pink Triangle, where he served as Senior Programme Manager, advocating for marginalized groups, including drug users, people living with HIV/AIDS, sex workers, and transgender individuals. His work solidified his reputation as a steadfast advocate.

Transitioning to UNICEF, Zashnain contributed significantly by evaluating projects and spearheading programs for youth and children with disabilities, honing his skills in program development and advocacy.

In the corporate sector, Zashnain gained insights into project management at an oil and gas fabrication company, which he later applied to his social work.

Venturing into consultancy roles in Thailand and Cambodia, Zashnain led projects for homeless communities, people living in slums, most-at-risks young people living in the “Deep South” and those affected by natural disasters. His outreach efforts underscored his dedication to empowerment.

In his role with SEED Malaysia, Zashnain has been instrumental in producing SEED's Strategic Report and the Transgender Training Manual, addressing crucial topics such as Law & Constitution, SOGIE, Community Leadership, and the SecureSEED initiative.

Zashnain authored the report "Navigating Injustice: Examining the Struggles of Transgender Communities in Malaysia" for SEED Malaysia, meticulously exploring the systemic challenges faced by transgender individuals and offering actionable policy recommendations.

Throughout his career, Zashnain has shown expertise in community outreach and research, utilizing his extensive experience to enact change and offer support. He remains a pivotal figure in social advocacy, epitomizing the virtues of compassion, empathy, and resilience.
