Hello, my name is Zayra Solis a sophomore college student living in Chicago Illinois. I am a fan of coffee and solving mathematic problems in my free time. I am passionate for equal education for everyone. As grew up I notice that not all my peers had a math teacher that motivated and connected with them. As an individual that has loved working with number I will like to pass this to future students. I am pursing my bachelor’s degree in mathematics and then my master’s degree in education. I see my self as a high school math teacher in Chicago Public Schools.

I am currently a Math Fellow that tutor students, facilitate workshops and attend a mathematic class to help student during class. I am gratified that I have already been able to support some student in the same situation as I was in, which is my main goal. Entering a field where I am underrepresented as a Latina woman will inspire others to reach any goal they have.

My mathematics professor said “Zayra is a creative, reliable, and thoughtful. All of which contribute to her success as a math peer tutor. She cares deeply for the students she works with and will not be satisfied until she has help them find their “ah ha” moment”
