Hazel Zhang

HONG KONG

I’m Zhang Min and this name is used by another 245,000 people in China. You can also call me Hazel, while I didn’t check its popularity.

People usually find me a paradoxical individual. Born and grew up in a boarder town in northeast China, I have deep love for my hometown. Showing it to others has been a long-cherished wish. On the other hand, I am curious about the outside world and eagerly to interact with new people from new places. Those desires drove me to continue my education after spending four years in the University of International Relations, Beijing. Now I’m studying a master’s degree at Hong Kong Baptist University, majored in Business and Finance Journalism.

During the spare time, I work as a freelance translator. Most of my translated works are professional literature, features from western media, and a Scotland novel named Sunset Song as well (you can see it online later). Travelling is another hobby. I have been to more than ten provinces in the mainland, North Korea, Thailand, Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah. I’m always surprised and impressed by different cultures and customs and took lots of photos (link).

In Chinese phonetic alphabets, liker also means comer. We believe in taking the things as they come. However, a city is like a book which is not easily to read. And there are a thousand Hamlets in a thousand people’s eyes. So does it go with Hong Kong. What I’m trying to do in the coming year is just to discover Hong Kong as much as possible and demonstrate her to you.

Yeah, my name is easy to be forgotten. But my writings won’t.
