Zicarlo van Aalderen

Born in the province of Zeeland in the Netherlands to an Indonesian mother and a Dutch father. I enjoyed a multicultural upbringing and as a result I now speak the Dutch, Indonesian, and English languages fluently.

During my time in school I also learned French and German, and afterwards Japanese on my own through courses and then a private teacher. And I also speak a smattering of Korean.

After high school I started aerospace engineering, but then I switched to earth sciences and specialized in paleoclimatology. Through the years I have traveled abroad many times. Most often to Indonesia to visit my family. But also for holidays, fieldwork, and excursions.

My most serious interests include photography, martial arts, and playing the guitar.
