Kelsey Zittle

My name is Kelsey and I am a first-year student at The Ohio State University.

My top 5 StrengthsQuest strengths are: achiever, competition, futuristic, includer, and strategic. Achiever being my top strength is something that I am proud of, as I have always wanted to be the best that I can be in everything that I do. I love working hard for the things that I want and I will do anything to work my way to the top. I enjoy feeling accomplished after driving myself to get things done. This strength impacts my life everyday, on many levels. I aspire to achieve the most that I can through school, and my social life as well.

Some lessons that I have learned as a student that I would offer to incoming first-year students include:

1. Do not worry about those who chose to walk out of you life, as you will find your forever friends in college.

2. College is nothinglike high school.

3. Living on your own might sound like fun now, but it will not be as easy as you expect it to be.

4. GET INVOLVED!

5. Attend any summer programs that you may be eligible for.

These lessons were important to me throughout my first semester of college. Reflecting on them now made me realize how important this semester was to my life and finding out who I am. These lessons have allowed me to grow as an individual and see what needs to be altered in my life in order for me to be successful in the future.

Carmen Ohio is the alma mater here at The Ohio State University. This song is sang by all Buckeye community members as they put their arms around those standing next to them and sway back and forth. I have found that singing this song is a strong tradition here at Ohio State that I will never forget. This has become one of my favorite traditions as a buckeye, and I am so glad to be a part of this community. Choosing my favorite Ohio State tradition has given me the chance to research it and find out the history behind it, which made it even more important to me. Now every time I sing Carmen Ohio I can reflect back on my research and recall why this tradition is so important to not only myself, but the entire Ohio State community.
