Zoe Lorenz

Student and Writer in Toronto, Ontario, Canada

I am a Creative Industries student, specialising in Media Business and Storytelling in Media. I can often be found buried in strange research for a creative project or agonizing over word choice. Being allowed to pet a dog always improves my day.

I began writing when I was 10 years old and haven’t really stopped since. I have participated in National Novel Writing Month since 2011, completing the goal of 50,000 words in a month every year except the first. I have written scripts for movies, episodic formats, and stage, however my true writing love is novel format. My current main project is tentatively titled War of Shadows and I plan on beginning my search for a literary agent after completing a final draft for the first book and at least a second draft for the other two books in the series.

I wrote, produced, and directed my first transmedia web series when I was still in high school, utilizing YouTube, Twitter, and Tumblr to retell Shakespeare’s Taming of the Shrew. As of March 2017 it had 1,479 subscribers on YouTube and 109,407 views. We were featured in Mic.com’s article “14 Exceptional YouTube Series That Literature Lovers Should Watch” as well as receiving a favourable review from BardBox.

In a professional context, I have many skills and experiences that go above and beyond what is expected of people my age. I have worked in multiple customer service roles including at a luxury hotel, always going the extra step to ensure the quality of the encounter for the guest. I have experience in planning low-cost fundraisers for not-for-profits, as well as running information sessions for different types of causes including school recruitment and event awareness. I have worked reception and enjoy organizing, which makes me an excellent asset when filing needs to be done.

Overall I am a well rounded creative professional who would love to take on any challenges the world throws my way.
