Zachary Meyerowitz
Zach picked up the trumpet at age 10 when it seemed like all the cool kids were doing it. A few years later he would drive over the hill to Hamilton High to be active in the Music Academy- competing in Big Bands, combos, musical theater orchestras, and singing in the vocal jazz ensemble and chamber ensemble. Zach graduated from UCLA in 2011 with a Bachelor degree in Ethnomusicology and a specialization in Jazz performance. Through the Cultural Affairs Commission (CAC), Zach programmed a weekly performance series inside UCLA's Kerckhoff Coffee House. A lover of all genres, Zach is an expert of American roots music, from traditional pre-war Jazz to Soul. He has released an EP with his roots Ska/Rocksteady band The Ifficials. When he's not gigging with The Chumbuckets or The California Feetwarmers, Zach can be found hovering over the ocean floor on a large piece of foam, in close proximity to other large mammals.
