Zoe Hughes
I am a coastal oceanographer and geomorphologist working for the Dept of Earth and Environment at Boston University, Presently, I am in Houston - where I am a visiting at the University of Houston in the Bio and Biochem Department. Why? Because vegetation and animals impact and shape the landscape. I specialize in looking at how climate change is effecting the shape and stability of our coastlines, and much of what I do relates to saltmarshes but I also study barrier islands, tidal inlets and beaches. That means that a lot of what I do involves measuring or modeling ocean waves and currents. These forces impact how sediment is moved and how the shoreline evolves.
