Zoë Feltham

Zoe has a temperament divided — spontaneous and fun contrasted with proper and calculated. The unanswered question had always been: how could those traits combine to forge a life’s work? At wits end, near the turn of the millennium, she consoled herself with a glass of ‘Rawsons Retreat’ Chardonnay (she admitted that?) and realised the answer was right there in front of her: wine.

Today, Zoe possesses a Masters in Wine Business from École Supérieure de Commerce Bourgogne; a selective Grande École business school operating above the university system in France. She also holds a Bachelor of Wine Marketing from the University of Adelaide, Australia.

Zoe currently works in Marketing for Adelaide Hills winery Shaw + Smith. Her first appearance at Shaw + Smith was six years prior as Cellar Door Manager but she left seeking broader experience. Her vocation took her to fine wine distributor red+white, working in sales - first in Adelaide, then in Brisbane. She then spent one year living in Burgundy to complete her Masters before returning to South Australia for a position with WBM – Australia’s Wine Business Magazine. In the “early days” she held numerous positions in on-trade and off-trade venues including seven years at the Edinburgh Cellars in Adelaide.

Academic and practical skills aside, contrasting temperaments forgotten, it is rumoured that ‘Impossible Lemon Pie’ helped inspire Zoe’s career in wine. The epicurean “pie days”, spent enjoying the much-loved family recipe, still inspires her work.
