I don’t think like anyone else.

I'm a creative catalyst who loves the thrill of molding something new.

Examples:

- For a video on domestic violence, I distilled research from across the U.S. into a story that gets you emotionally invested in the main character, Shayna. I wanted a wide range of women to identify with her, so I didn’t want to show her race. My solution? Make Shayna an artist’s mannequin—which allows her to be even more vulnerable than a person can be, and lets the viewer project her own emotional reactions onto Shayna.

The resulting video, "Time To Choose", was used to spark discussions among victims, and was hailed as “powerful” by the advocacy group Stop Child Abuse Now.

- When Mark Baldino figured out how Santa gets into houses that don’t have chimneys, he asked me to turn the idea into moving pictures. I started with a tense scene that appears to have a burglar lurking, then I defused the tension and made the audience laugh when Santa and his secret are revealed.

- The poet Audre Lorde wrote, “You can’t dismantle the master’s house using the master’s tools,” but that’s exactly what we did for Second Story Books—we used storytelling techniques from television to entice viewers to stop watching TV and read books instead. Owners Allan & Kim Stypeck welcomed the collaboration with me and my cinematographer, Rob Lyall, as we polished their idea and added depth and resonance to the visuals.
