Zoran Djordjevich

Partner and Chief Medical Director at Mohnacky Animal Hospital of Carlsbad, California, Dr. Zoran Djordjevich is recognized for a number of significant accomplishments, including his work in perfecting the Helica Total Hip Replacement (THR) system, a less-invasive hip replacement procedure for dogs with degenerative hip disease. Zoran Djordjevich is the first veterinary surgeon in the United States to implant the acetabular 24mm Helica screw cup prototype. Dr. Djordjevich continues working to perfect the device, which is now widely used by veterinarians across the country. He enhances the benefits of the surgical procedure, and increases its potential for success, by infusing the affected area with healthy adult stem cells.

A native of Yugoslavia, Zoran Djordjevich received his DVM from the University of Belgrade, where he worked as an assistant professor while completing his veterinary degree. Before immigrating to the United States, Dr. Djordjevich attended the Royal Veterinary College in London, where he had opportunities to observe a number of medical and surgical procedures. He also worked in Sacramento, California for three years prior to joining Mohnacky Animal Hospital.

Dr. Djordjevich is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), and the San Diego County Veterinary Medical Association (SDCVMA). An enthusiastic and talented athlete, Dr. Djordjevich participated in the 2012 Indian Wells Celebrity Doubles Tennis Tournament, an annual fundraising event held in Indian Wells, California. Dr. Djordjevich competed against Wimbledon champion Novak Djokovic, one of the world's top-ranked tennis players. Dr. Djordjevich is also an avid soccer player.
