Zoltan Jeney

Born in Budapest. Studied Flute at the F. Liszt music academy. Studied pianoforte at the Royal Academy of Music London. Conducting at the Musikhochschule Köln. From 1981-88 Kapellmeister and repetiteur in Lübeck, From 1988-91 Staff conductor at Cape Town Opera. From 1991-95 Second Conductor and Chief of musical studies at Neustrelitz Opera. Since 1996 free lance pianist,conductor and flute soloist. Benjamin Britten wrote Gemini Variations Op.73. for him and his twin brother. Did recordings for BBC, DECCA, NDR, SABC, MRT, RTB, WDR etc... conducted innumberable Performances of Operas, Operettas, Musicals, Balletts and Symphony Concerts. He gave piano recitals and played chamber music in almost every imaginable combinations with colleagues from the orchestras Loves to play jazz and bar music in piano bars and to seizes every opportunity to sing tenor part in an choir or chorus.. Married with two children. Hobbies : reading classics in original, visiting lesser-known neglected painting galleries of Europe, family and friends. In 1999 the Accociation of British Recording chose a selection of the most important works of the past century written by British composer and recorded by one of their member companies. The recording of Gábor and Zoltán Jeney of this sadly neeglected chamber music piece had found it place in this collection.
