Zainab Sharmeen Khan
Chicago, Illinois
Hi! My name is Zainab Sharmeen Khan, known to most as Sharmeen, and I am a eighteen year old student living in Illinois. I am intrigued with biology and neuroscience, and I plan on a double major in biology and political science from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. In high school, I participated frequently on the national debate circuit.
My past work experience has been primarily tutoring through Maine Township High School East for 3 years, and as an Resident Advisor for the Spartan Debate Institutes. My volunteer work has been quite varied, with both work in shelters and food pantries such as Vital Bridges, a place that helps HIV+ patients with basic needs, as well as Hilda's Place, which is a transitional shelter for homeless or out of work individuals. In 2011, I volunteered at a hospital in India, and observed reconstructive surgery with children recieving cleft palate correctional surgery. In 2012, I participated in a relief trip to Pennsylvania, in which I helped rebuild homes for those afflected by a major flood. For most of my life, I have worked as an AMUUA Volunteer, which is an alumni association that helps donate money and create schools for girls in the villages of India, so they can recieve a quality education.
This website is a place to display my work experience, as well as establish contact with others that have the same interests. I invite you to send me an email for any possible work, internship, or research oppurtunities, as I would love to engage myself more in these fields. Thanks for visiting!
