Hello and thanks for stopping by my about.me page! My research interests lie at the marketing, entrepreneurship and ethnicity interface. In fact, my PhD thesis examined the entrepreneurial marketing activities of the Zarathustrian entrepreneur. As an Associate Professor of Entrepreneurial Marketing, in the past, I’ve been responsible for managing a postgraduate portfolio with approximately 1500 students with an income of nearly £15m. An avid proponent of ‘practice what you preach’, I’ve successfully launched five businesses (one of which won a National Award) and in my capacity as Managing Consultant at Baresman Consulting (www.baresman.com), I have integrated marketing strategy/communications with management consultancy and training for numerous organisations both in the UK and internationally, and across a variety of industry sectors (including Health Care, Professional Services, Music, Travel, Manufacturing, Retail, IT, Education and ‘cottage’ industries). Last year saw the publication of the much acclaimed scholarly text, entitled “Entrepreneurial Marketing: Global Perspectives” published in 2014 (with Dr Roz Jones and Dr Paul Harrigan). The endorsements read like a list of who’s who in EM (with positive commentary from Microsoft UK, Judge Business School and Lord Karan Billimoria of Cobra Beer! I’m currently in the middle of co-authoring two more books; an undergraduate version of the first book on entrepreneurial marketing (with R. Jones) and the 3rd Edition of the UK/Europe’s most popular textbook on ‘Consumer Behaviour’ (with J. Blythe). Currently Co-Chair of the UK Academy of Marketing's Special Interest Group on 'Entrepreneurial & Small Business Marketing' (with Dr Roz Jones) & have been invited to conduct keynote lectures at HE institutions in the UK, EU, and China and India, and regularly speak at South East Asia’s leading Business School, the Indian Institute of Management Ahmadabad (IIMA). I sit on the Editorial Board of the internationally respected Journal of Research in Marketing and Entrepreneurship and am also a reviewer for some leading journals, including Journal for Marketing Management, Journal for Strategic Marketing, and the EuroMed Journal of Business. In addition, I’m currently a Guest Editor for two Special Issues of journals (JRME; Social Business) which are due to be published in 2016. Oh and I’ve previously also raised external funding of nearly £500k for various academic projects!
