A nerdy girl born and raised in North Charleston, South Carolina, Zuri wants to facilitate discussions from entertainment media, from video games and anime/manga to movies and television shows. She believes that there is always something to learn from certain media and stories.

Zuri also wants to balance one of her dream careers as a media commentator with being an online journalist, because she believes that journalism is a public service to the people.

While Zuri is working towards her bachelor’s degree in mass communications at Winthrop University, she wrote over 100 articles for the student newspapers, the Johnsonian, the weekly newspaper, and the Roddey McMillan Record, the monthly diversity paper. She also completed a semester-long internship at the Herald, the local newspaper for Rock Hill, South Carolina, writing Friday night high school football stories and news features.

Multiple scholarships were awarded to Zuri due to her merit, academic work and dedication to journalism, such as the Charlotte Area Association of Black Journalists (twice!) and the Radio, Television and Digital News Association of the Carolinas. She recently received the Gilman Scholarship to study abroad in Sydney, Australia for the Spring 2018 semester.
