For The Arts
The first phase of the Carpet Mills Arts District will see the placement of about 45 banners, creative lighting, infrastructure improvements, and other branding efforts. They will be placed around the perimeter of the property along Nepperhan Avenue, Axminster Street, Saw Mill River Road, and Lake Avenue. This feature serves to define the district as a unique arts destination.
The next phase will see specific zoning allowances. It is aimed at making the Arts District a regional destination for cultural tourism.
The heart of the new Carpet Mills Arts District will feature a massive 170,000 square foot historic, multi-tenant loft building. It will be located at 500 Nepperhan Ave. in Yonkers and is owned by the Rose family.
