Hi, I’m Brian. Even though it's very cliche of me, I'm deciding to use this method anyway. One word I would use to describe myself is: adventurous.

I moved to the United States when I was 6 years old. At the time, I had no idea how to interact with American students. I decided to watch famous TV shows such as Spongebob Squarepants and iCarly every day in order to share interests with my classmates. One day, I tried to bring up the new episode from the night before. To my surprise, a lot of my classmates enjoyed talking about it and thus became my friends. I learned how to make friends by studying and reaching out first.

Fast forward to sixth grade. My dad, who played basketball from high school through intramural clubs in college, suggested that I try out basketball by signing up for the Troy Parks & Rec Winter League. I was reluctant at first, but decided to try it out. As soon as we started dribbling the ball, I realized how enjoyable and fun basketball is. I wouldn't have found my lifelong hobby if I decided to be timid.

Now, I'm attempting to explore life beyond high school. As I prepare for and apply to colleges, I'm constantly reminding myself to work hard so I can live in another state. I would like to learn more about the modern world we live in by gaining new perspectives through living somewhere drastically different than what I grew up in.

My main message is to try your best to get out of your comfort zone. Limiting yourself can only hurt you as you won't be able to explore and find unique interests/hobbies. You can grow immensely as a person by learning new information throughout life. The more you know about life, the broader the understanding you possess. Live without any regrets. As Drake said in 2011, You Only Live Once!
