Why am I here? What am I pursuing; what's my overall goal? I’ve made it this far in life driven by one thing: a dream. You see, I’m an avid fan of music and I even write my own songs. I’d like to get to learn as much about music as possible so I’m constantly watching YouTube videos about things ranging from mixing and mastering, to producing beats. I’m even taking a guitar class this semester! My guitar hadn’t even arrived in the mail and I was already researching tabs for my favorite songs. When I’m doing something I love, things flow easily, and I put my all into it. You might find it quite interesting that my major is in Criminal Justice. I know that it might take a while for me to gain recognition in the music industry, so right now I only consider it a hobby. Why does an aspiring musician decide to major in Criminal Justice? Well, sometimes you find yourself in complicated situations and find yourself abiding to the popular vote, even if the winning option isn’t your own. That’s life though, making decisions and putting your dreams off to the side. That’s why I chose Criminal Justice. There are many different things you can do with a degree in that field, and I want to help people. I want to put my focus on at risk youth and help them create a life goal to achieve. When you have the drive to do something, you can surprise yourself and others at how hard you work to try to achieve that goal. I believe that’s why I’m still pursuing music. It’s helped me in my darkest times and has given me many opportunities. I’m constantly trying to better my lyrics, so I read a lot and listen to many different genres of music. Sometimes I need help and feedback to reach my maximum potential and I’m glad that I have peers surrounding me with positivity.
