Delmwa Deshi Kura
Filmmaker, Writer, and Movie Producer in London, United Kingdom
My name is Delmwa Deshi Kura, CEO of Delmedia Productions and founder of Velocity Studios, with a proven track record in the media industry. I began my career as a writer, producer, and director on some of Africa’s most iconic TV shows, including DSTV’s Tinsel, Jara, Date My Family, 53Xtra, and Duplicity. I later joined Viacom, where I directed the popular Pan-African hit The Big Friday Show on MTVBase. My leadership journey continued as Regional Director and Executive Producer at Discovery Communications’ Social Narrative arm.
I am a graduate of The Relativity School of Film Studies in Los Angeles, CA, and have professional training from ABC Studios in New York and Discovery Communications offices in London and Washington DC. My expertise includes spearheading impactful media projects for global organizations such as DFID, USAID, and the US State Department’s Africa Desk, focusing on girls’ education, youth engagement, and public policy. My social impact film LARABA, addressing early marriage and girls’ right to education in Northern Nigeria, is set to premiere at the United Nations’ UNWomen’s CSW conference in 2025. Additionally, I have produced Naija Next Gen, a social impact story aimed at inspiring change and empowering the youth - The Leaders of Tomorrow.
As an Eisenhower Fellow and TED Licensee who convenes TEDx Rayfield, I am dedicated to youth mentorship and grassroots advocacy. I serve on the boards of igrow, which empowers rural women in agriculture, and Change Makers International (CMI), recognized by the United Nations for its work in advancing women’s rights.
At Delmedia Productions, I produce high-quality content for top media brands like DSTV, Discovery Communications, Universal Studios, Showmax, and ITV. My production house is also developing major franchises for Pan-African audiences, including NBC Universal’s The Real Housewives and Top Chef, along with ITV’s Come Dine With Me – Nigeria. My mission is to drive West Africa’s media industry forward by investing in infrastructure and leveraging technology to boost local talent and revenue generation.
