I went swimming in that lake...and yes, it was COLD.
You would think any lake would be bearable in August but that's not the case when it's fed by melting glaciers. The water was borderline painful as I was inching my way farther in.
After a minute you get use to the cold. Given enough time you might even find yourself enjoying the crisp cool water. And afterwards, when you've grown accustomed to the frigid water, the cool Alaskan wind feels like a warm tropical breeze.
Overall, an experience worth remembering.

This picture was taken just outside Denali National Park, Alaska. It was one of the most awe inspiring places I've been and I recommend a visit.
