Thanks for checking out my page. I am a 39 year old father, husband, teacher and person that has been on an incredible 39 year Journey. I count myself as incredibly lucky and priviledged to have met so many wonderful people and had rich experiences. I have taught in South Africa, Chicago, Bellevue, at the University of Washington, Coastal Carolina University and now back in Bellevue

I have three beautiful boys who are my life and the rest is details! I met my wife in Chicago and I havent looked back! She is a wonderful, beautiful and intellegent women that inspires me to be the best I can.

I was born and raised in South Africa, primarily in the province of Kwa-Zulu Natal. I played all sports that were aivailable but as my dad will say was never quite motivated enough to be a pro! My family is very close and an important part of who I am. My mom, next to my wife, is the most wonderful and giving person in the world. My dad is the primary influence on me as a teacher and I have had the priviledge of having him as my principal, teacher and coach and most importantly my father! He embodies the the african philosophy of Ubuntu - we are all bound up together and our destiny/humanity is intertwined. My brother lives in Durban and works as a teacher at a very good private school. He has two boys and a little girl. My sister lives in Helsinki Finland, works as a teacher and has one little boy.

As a person who has experienced incredible privieldge (race, class, gender, sexual orientation, ability etc) I believe that I am bound by this with those that are marginalized by the same systems that priviledge me. I am committed to using my position of priviledge to engage with, as an ally, with those oppressed to work towards the ultimate liberation of us all from these systems. Lila Watson more eloquently states it by saying:

"If you have come here to help me, you are wasting your time. But if you have come because your liberation is bound up with mine, then let us work together."

I have included some of my writing and pictures for you to review.
