Kayla is a second year Sport Media student at Ryerson University. Growing up, Kayla developed an early passion for sports as she competed in competitive soccer and national gymnastics. She learned quickly how to not only work individually but also as a team. Her 10 year involvement in sports led to the decision to make sports her lifelong passion.

Alongside sports, Kayla is passionate about videography and video editing. She grew this love for video storytelling in High School where she was thrown into an environment where she created short films, music videos, and documentaries amongst others. Kayla was exposed to a plethora of diverse ways of storytelling and she looks to use this experience in her work. Kayla works to find a way to successful pair her love for sports and video storytelling in a compelling way to tell important stories.

Kayla is a passionate and enthusiastic individual who thrives under pressure. She believes in providing a platform for those without a voice. Her ultimate goal is to be able to highlight important issues going on in the sport world and specifically change the stigma on women's sports and women in sport.

Before attending Ryerson, Kayla earned the opportunity to present her short film on student athletes at a community film festival. This experience pinpoints the exact moment where she truly realized her passion for storytelling and combining that with her experiences in sport.

With her degree, Kayla ultimately hopes to pursue a career in feature storytelling or sport marketing.
