Lily Ng
Software Engineer, Small Business Owner, and Consultant in California, United States
Hello everyone, I'm Lily Ng.
I've always believed that life isn't a straight line.
It's more like a branching path – some paths are smooth, others are challenging, but every step has shaped who I am today.
I have a background in software engineering and currently work at TPx Communications in a role related to technology and enterprise solutions.
My daily work involves helping businesses truly integrate technology into their operations, making systems more efficient, processes more stable, and ensuring that problems are identified and solved.
For me, technology is never just about code.
It's a way of thinking – rational, structured, and long-term oriented.
It's also a capability – finding a path in complexity and establishing order in chaos.
But before entering the technology field, I walked a completely different path.
In Singapore, before 2015, I independently ran a bridal shop.
It wasn't an easy job, but a thorough learning experience – from product selection, operations, and customer communication, to daily management and decision-making, I had to handle almost every detail myself.
That period helped me truly understand the essence of business.
It's not just about selling a product; it's about trust, cash flow, execution, and taking responsibility for every choice.
Later, before the pandemic, I also invested in a brick-and-mortar store.
That was a difficult period. The external environment changed drastically, and many things couldn't be changed by effort alone.
I suffered significant losses and experienced profound stress.
But I didn't lose faith because of it.
On the contrary, I learned to remain calm amidst uncertainty, to re-understand risk, rhythm, and long-term planning.
After experiencing ups and downs, I became more certain of one thing – positivity and rationality are not contradictory; what truly matters is:
No matter what happens, keep moving forward.
I received my education at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore and the University of Southern California in the United States, and I have lived and worked in different cultures and environments.
This has made me accustomed to looking at people and things from a more open perspective.
Respecting professionalism while understanding reality.
Pursuing ideals while remaining grounded.
Outside of work, I love travel, food, and art.
I enjoy exploring the world through travel and rediscovering myself through life experiences. Sometimes, I try a new recipe in the kitchen;
sometimes, I use painting and music to slow down and quiet my life.
These things keep me passionate and remind me that I'm not just a busy person, but also a living, breathing human being.
Having come this far, I'm no longer in a hurry to define myself with any particular label.
I'd rather be someone who—
has experienced, has reflected, and is still willing to grow.
I believe that what truly allows one to go further in life is never fleeting luck,
but rather focus, resilience, and the ability to continuously create.
Thank you for getting to know me.
