How did I end up at the University of Georgia? My freshman year of college was not at UGA but actually at Armstrong State University in Savannah, Georgia. Why did I go to Armstrong when Georgia is the best school In the world? I ran cross country and track all throughout high school and worked hard to improve my times and by senior year I had gotten pretty fast. I ended up getting in touch with the coach at Armstrong and went on a tour and I really liked it, a lot. I received a scholarship to run cross country and I did and I loved it. That still doesn’t explain why I am at Georgia does it? Well during spring semester, the University System of Georgia decided to announce that they were effectively going to merge Armstrong and Georgia Southern because it sounds like a good idea. As far as I understand they were just on a rampage of destroying schools, I mean merging schools. In preparation for the merger the athletic department had no choice but to cut all athletics. If I recall correctly this was in March with less than 2 months of class left. As you can probably guess all of the athletes were scrambling to find a university to attend that was giving out scholarships or had positions on a team. It felt like every last athlete wanted to leave after this happened, I did. I ended up transferring to UGA and it was a great decision. I was a little too slow for the Georgia team so I decided to join the club cross country team here at UGA. Go Dawgs!
