The author writes books under RICH HOLTZIN and his nom de plume, RK ALLEMAN. Other than publishing works about national parks, monuments, tribal parks, and archeological ruins, his other interests, as writings, focus on the environment, all creatures great and small, nature (as in Pantheism), aviation, sustainability and eco-awareness. As for the highlights of his peripatetic life, eclectic lifestyle, and traits, after being honorably discharged from the Navy (affiliated with the submarine service), Rich moved to the West and Southwest (totaling some 40 years to date). Earning three academic degrees in Eastern and Western Philosophy, for nearly 30 years, he earned a living as a professional guide, outdoor educator and interpreter, mainly employed by the Grand Canyon Field Institute, Northern Arizona University, and Yavapai College (Prescott, AZ). Additionally, he was a studio and stage musician, taught guitar and music theory, including composing two soundtracks for the Grand Canyon and Yellowstone National Parks; employed as a high school Educational Assistant and Substitute Teacher; commercial pilot flying a variety of aircraft; professional photographer; GPS surveyor and topographical mapper for the U. S. Forest Service; planetarium control room operator and museum docent; and served with the Pennsylvania State Police and the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office (Flagstaff, AZ). Fairly recently, he became the Executive Director of a think tank and research assistant in Albuquerque, with a focus on S.T.E.M. classroom projects (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). He is also the co-author of a math-lab book based on astronautics and aerospace applications (www.stemfortheclassroom.com).
